IMPORTANT PROGRAM UPDATE

The federal funds used to operate this project are scheduled to expire later this year. As a result, all ACE funds must be used for allowable activities no later than July 1, 2024. (Dates of service must occur before July 1, 2024.)*

All claims requesting payment or reimbursement must be submitted to Merit for processing no later than July 15, 2024. Any funds that are not expended by July 1, 2024 will no longer be available. Claims submitted after July 15, 2024 will not be approved.

*Clarification for service dates/close down for camps: Claims for day camps that have been paid for by parents may be reimbursed if the service date occurs through September 1, 2024. The claim is only reimbursable for day camps during this time period if the parent has paid up front and prior to July 1, 2024.

Educational Value

Before & After School Programming - Horizon Education Centers offer before and after school programming, as well as transportation to and from local schools. Daily prgramming includes breakfast and an afternoon snack, academic supports like tutoring, homework help, and social-emotional development, as well as fun, hands-on STEM, arts, and large motor activities. Camps - Summer camp is fun in the sun for our children Kindergarten - 12 years of age! Programming includes swimming and trips to area parks, as well as a weekly major field trip. Summer camp provides weekly themes with project-based learning opportunities and activities that help prevent summer learning loss. Active brains, healthy bodies, and happy faces! Field Trips - Horizon offers fun, educational field trips during Summer Camp and occasionally during school breaks. Summer Camp features a major field trip weekly, as well as regular trips to parks and pools (including swimming lessons from a certified Water Safety Instructor). Examples of major field trips include the Great Lakes Science Center, The Women's Aviation Museum, and much more! Tutoring - Horizon locations offer tutoring from partner school teachers or Horizon staff who work one-on-one with program students or small groups on Math, English-Language Arts, and other subjects.
