Educational Value

The Ashtabula County Family YMCA has a mission of providing membership opportunities and programs to promote healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. We aim to support healthy kids, families, and communities. Our areas of focus are youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Our core values are honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Our members and participants have access to programs including swimming lessons, basketball, volleyball, soccer, martial arts, flag-football. See the attached program guide or the website for complete listing of quarterly programs. Most programs, such as YMCA Swimming lessons, adhere to establish curriculum but also have a focus on social-emotional growth, connections, and social wellbeing. Our programs are organized to have fun and learn fundamental skills. Our fees do not include purchase of equipment. Our fees do not pay for pay to play charges. Our Learning Center has a preschool, before and after school program, and summer day camp program. We also have a summer day camp for children with autism called Reach and Teach. Our programs align with education standards. Children in our learning center are physically active, learn about nutrition, and eat healthy food. Children participate in crafts, science experiments, math games, and visit the local library for a literacy program. Field trips are scheduled throughout the summer. They visit parks and host guest speakers. In addition to the programs mentioned above, members of the Y have access to many fitness amenities including a 25-yard pool, racquetball courts, basketball gym, pickleball, cardio area, free weights, resistance weight area. Fitness classes on land, water, and fitness nutrition coaching are included in the cost of membership. Members are able to use 2000 other YMCAs in the USA. Members have preferential registration and reduced rates for programing. Members are supported by our staff and have many social opportunities with each other.
