Educational Value

White Caps Stewardship owns and operates Sylvan Learning of Strongsville. We provide supplemental educational services for K-12 students by designing and delivering personalized learning programs in Reading, Math, Writing, Study Skills and ACT/SAT Prep. Programs use Sylvan Learning's proprietary curriculum and are based on detailed initial assessments and ongoing progress assessments. Our goals for each student are for them to attain skill mastery where gaps exist; to see any obstacles to their learning identified and/or removed; and to instill or re-instill a passion for learning. We believe in ongoing communication and collaboration with both schools and families to better understand how we can best support students during their individual programs. We have seen our students make great progress; raise test scores; earn admission to challenging academic programs; take the initiative in their education and more. Pandemic learning has brought more challenges but nothing new for Sylvan. By this we mean, there have long been a variety of reasons why a student finds that they lack the skills to be academically engaged and successful. Covid learning has provided a singular reason for many students to experience academic setbacks. While we are certainly sensitive to any lingering trauma that may be affecting students' interest in learning, Sylvan takes a very affirming approach to engaging students by meeting them where they are and encouraging their positive academic efforts and choices through motivation techniques. Our students want to be there; they are excited to learn and they are quite proud of their progress.
