Educational Value

The mission of Hudson Montessori School is to foster an educational environment conducive to each child’s unique qualities and abilities for the development of social, emotional and reasoning skills that are essential for a lifetime of independent, creative thinking and learning in the world community. Our school was first accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) in 2007, followed by accreditation by the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS). Today, the school consists of a Young Children's Community (including Parent-Infant, Parent-Toddler and 3 & 5 day Toddler classes) , four Children’s House classes for students ages 3 to 6, two Lower Elementary classes for students ages 6 to 9, two Upper Elementary classes for students ages 9 to 12 and the Middle School for students ages 12 to 14. HMS serves students from Hudson and over 20 surrounding communities. Students aged 3 to 12 years can stay after school with their friends and participate in a variety of on- and off-campus clubs and programs from 3:15 to 6:00 p.m. After-School Clubs are taught by members of our staff as well as community members, educational institutions and local businesses, such as the Akron Zoo, Hooked on Fencing, and the Learning Ladder. Students often discover a new passion or develop skills and talents in new areas. There are multiple sessions during the academic year, with new and exciting age-appropriate options each time. Private lessons in piano, violin, viola, brass, and woodwind instruments are also available through our HMS Conservatory of Music. At Hudson Montessori School, summer is time for children to explore, create and discover at Hudson Montessori School. Our summer programs are staffed by talented and dedicated camp counselors, most of whom are HMS faculty, staff or alumni. Our camps provide half-day and full-day options. Along with the available before- and after-care, we can provide daily programming from as early as 7:30am until as late as 5:30pm. All children our welcome to attend HMS summer camps, not just current students – it is great opportunity to make new friends!
