Educational Value

The Zanesville Civic League Community Center (ZCLCC) is a nonprofit organization who has been serving its community for more than 100 years! Our organization was created to serve the underserved and disadvantaged youth of our community and to provide wholesome programming and activities that enhance and enrich life for the youth and families in our community, and as such, we offer school-aged child care, afterschool programs, and various learning and physical fitness opportunities. We promote citizenship, personal responsibility, positive self-esteem, good attitude, and academic excellence. We strive to uplift others spiritually, and this should affect our speech, behavior, and attitude. To help children realize their potential we strive to: • Provide opportunities for children to develop confidence in themselves through: 1. Experiences in social relationships. 2. Learning motor and manipulatory skills. 3. Developing appropriate behaviors and finding acceptable outlets for emotions, learning self-control, and restraint. 4. Learning happy qualities such as fun, humor, and optimism. 5. Offering stimulating experiences that encourage them to think. • Encourage sharing and cooperating with peers and to develop respect of property rights. • Encourage children to express themselves through materials, movement, and language by providing these experiences daily. • Stimulate language development through hearing, understanding, and expressing feelings, wants, ideas and needs. • Encourage cognitive learning by providing a variety of experiences, both teacher-directed and child directed, that allow for concept formation, self-understanding, enhancing the child’s self-esteem, creativity, and imagination. We believe what a child learns during the early years greatly influences their overall adjustment, attitudes, and outcomes. Because of this, our program will provide the atmosphere, instruction, and activities in pursuit of a positive influence.
