Educational Value

Our EAGLE Program provides a cost-effective professional tutoring alternative that includes online assessment and teacher-directed instructional support for development of strong reading decoding skills. EAGLE incorporates a diagnostic-prescriptive approach to teaching reading skills using a structured multisensory Orton-Gillingham based methodology to benefit all learners, including those having dyslexia or other disabilities. A strong foundation in decoding is critical for development of the automaticity required for reading comprehension and higher level critical thinking skills. Our Foundational Reading program targets: * Beginning / Emergent Readers (Kindergarten - Grade 3) * Readers of all ages who are struggling with decoding skills * Readers with disabilities, including dyslexia We conduct an initial targeted assessment with each child virtually via Zoom to determine current performance levels and needs. For beginning readers, a nonsense word assessment is also administered which looks at application of reading decoding patterns. We then design a targeted learning plan which incorporates our brief instructional videos and professionally designed instructional practice materials within an app-like format kids love delivered through “decks” in the Boom Learning platform. Progress is monitored weekly and updated video lessons/activities are assigned as appropriate. Additional scaffolded activities are incorporated as needed, such as repeated opportunities to differentiate specific short vowel sounds, letter-sound work, etc. Our systematic format incorporates incremental skill development and word markings to build confident learners. Students are encouraged to practice assigned Boom Card decks daily throughout the week. Our program provides brief specialized instructional videos corresponding to each Boom Card deck through our Learning Management System. Unlike traditional specialized tutoring, our program provides quality prescribed instruction, progress monitoring and activities for an entire month. How is EAGLE different from specialized in-person tutoring? * Significantly less expensive with access to targeted high-quality instruction and materials designed for student success - a month of service/materials with ongoing progress monitoring is provided at a cost less than a single hour of traditional specialized tutoring. * Students are encouraged to repeat activities multiple times in short bursts which significantly impacts skill development, retention and generalization. * Corrects decoding difficulties in months - not years. Why are we offering this service? As a veteran special education teacher and administrator who has a doctorate in Special Education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction, I have seen first-hand how students benefit from quality instruction. Unfortunately, not all students are provided quality instruction in a systematic fashion with adequate practice opportunities. We tailor instruction to individual student needs then monitor and adjust instruction as needed. Out EAGLE products have been developed over many years by myself and my twin sister business partner who had worked in occupational therapy within schools for thirty years. EAGLE is the vehicle by which we can make high quality targeted instructional activities available to many students who would benefit at a reasonable cost. Nearly all children can learn to read and be proud of their accomplishments when given high quality, systematic, targeted instruction. We also provide similar assessment, instruction and materials for rapid mastery of money skills.
