IMPORTANT PROGRAM UPDATE

The federal funds used to operate this project are scheduled to expire later this year. As a result, all ACE funds must be used for allowable activities no later than July 1, 2024. (Dates of service must occur before July 1, 2024.)*

All claims requesting payment or reimbursement must be submitted to Merit for processing no later than July 15, 2024. Any funds that are not expended by July 1, 2024 will no longer be available. Claims submitted after July 15, 2024 will not be approved.

*Clarification for service dates/close down for camps: Claims for day camps that have been paid for by parents may be reimbursed if the service date occurs through September 1, 2024. The claim is only reimbursable for day camps during this time period if the parent has paid up front and prior to July 1, 2024.

Educational Value

At Premier Martial Arts, students aged three and up engage in physical activity that develops gross and fine motor skills. We provide the knowledge and skills to maintain a healthy and balanced level of activity and fitness. Students learn the benefits of healthy movement while building strength and healthy habits. Specifically, Premier Martial Arts uses the philosophy of Karate and Taekwondo to teach the concepts and principles related to movement, performance, and discipline. Lastly, Premier Martial Arts teaches and requires students to demonstrate Black Belt Excellence characteristics such as respect, self-discipline, honesty, fitness, and focus. The services provided by Premier Martial Arts is educationally valuable to students for a variety of reason: 1) Martial Arts practice help students build confidence and help them find success in their life. Martial Arts principles help students increase their focus and block out distractions which is a skill that is necessary in an educational environment. Martial Arts principles also teach self-discipline, allowing students to learn how to prioritize school work and commitments accordingly. 2) Martial Arts help students demonstrate competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns by learning and practicing kicking combinations and katas. Students at Premier Martial Arts apply the concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics related to movement and performance during skill drills, skill tests, and ranking evaluations. Martial Arts students demonstrate the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness by attending class a minimum of 30 minutes, twice a week. Students at Premier Martial Arts exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects others; which is evaluated by monthly homework sheets and reinforced through daily chats. 3) Regardless of age, students at Premier Martial Arts engage in physical activity that enhances balance, object manipulation, and gross and fine motor skills that combine into a sequence of movements in a variety of life, social, and competitive settings.
