Educational Value

The Center for Cognition & Development provides a variety of programs to support the academic needs of students who struggle with learning. Students who participate in tutoring for reading and writing at our Center receive one-to-one support. This one-to-one, approach versus small group, ensures each child’s tutoring program is individualized and specific to his/her learning style. Evidence gathered from our individualized approach has shown the majority of students increase their reading/writing skills upwards of 2 years in as little as a year’s time. All tutoring is provided in accordance with state standards and is delivered by intervention specialists who are highly qualified and licensed by the State of Ohio. Like our reading program, students who get math tutoring also receive one-to-one support. Based on a child’s need, we provide foundational goals to help develop conceptual learning and fluency. In addition we work to help develop an appreciation for math and a feeling of competency. All tutoring is provided in accordance with state standards and is delivered by intervention specialists who are highly qualified and licensed by the State of Ohio. In addition, we provided memory development learning strategies and activities to support strengthening focus so students can more easily remember/retain and recalling information they learned.
