Educational Value

With over 30 years of piano teaching experience, Amy's Piano Studio offers an individualized musical learning experience for each student. Piano instruction and performance opportunities are offered to students of all ages and abilities. Amy attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where she received her bachelor's degree in Music Therapy. Her primary instrument was piano and she studied with Mr. Richard Syracuse during her time at OU. Following college, Amy completed a six month clinical internship in Music Therapy in New York. Amy Rice is a active member of: MTNA (Music Teacher's National Association), OMTA (Ohio Music Teacher's Association), and the WVMTA (West Virginia Music Teacher's Association). Amy's students perform in various recitals, festivals and competitions, in addition to volunteering their time and talents within the local community by playing at local hospitals. Amy offers both in person and online lessons through the use of a platform (Muzie) designed specifically for online music lessons. This provides the flexibility needed when a student cannot attend lessons in person. Studies have found that students who taken piano lessons experience many non-musical benefits as well. For example, playing the piano strengthens eye-hand coordination, encourages creativity, improves reading/comprehension, relieves stress and anxiety, and improves self esteem. As one parent states: "Amy’s Piano Studio is fantastic! My daughter has learned so much since she has started here. We love the virtual lessons, they are so convenient for our busy schedule. Amy takes the time to build a strong relationship with our daughter. She is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and motivating!" - Janie P.
