IMPORTANT PROGRAM UPDATE

The federal funds used to operate this project are scheduled to expire later this year. As a result, all ACE funds must be used for allowable activities no later than July 1, 2024. (Dates of service must occur before July 1, 2024.)*

All claims requesting payment or reimbursement must be submitted to Merit for processing no later than July 15, 2024. Any funds that are not expended by July 1, 2024 will no longer be available. Claims submitted after July 15, 2024 will not be approved.

*Clarification for service dates/close down for camps: Claims for day camps that have been paid for by parents may be reimbursed if the service date occurs through September 1, 2024. The claim is only reimbursable for day camps during this time period if the parent has paid up front and prior to July 1, 2024.

Educational Value

Instrumental music lessons provided for piano, guitar and bassoon for beginner to advanced level for learners of all ages. Music lessons help to develop mental focus and cognition, fine and gross motor skills, mathematics in rhythm and counting, expressive communication, visual tracking and hand eye coordination, spatial skills and body kinetics, and auditory processing. Students who learn a musical instrument have been shown by many studies to excel in other areas of learning. Piano music lesson plan: Sample Piano music lesson plan for 30 min lesson Goal- correctly identify and play quarter, half, whole, and eighth notes within context of song 1. Review previous lesson song to show proficiency/mastery 2. Address details such as rhythmic counting, note accuracy, dynamics, and expressive phrasing 3. Agree with student to continue review of song for next week depending on mastery and/or continue to new song 4. Sight reading - discuss new content of next song in lesson book, providing instruction for new terms of r techniques addressed by new song. Allow student to try playing one hand at a time, then sight reading hands together. 5. Address areas to improve for next lesson, including specific practice techniques for trouble spots 6. Reinforce proficiency by playing duet with student for solos in lesson book that have duet parts included.
