Clever Noodle makes board games and card games that help students learn and practice early literacy skills, helping to significant accelerate the speed and quality of their mastery. All of our games are designed to be both highly effective (i.e., aligned to the Science of Reading and vetted by literacy experts) and super fun to keep children engaged (using the power of play). Kangaroo Cravings: Our first game, Kangaroo Cravings, is designed for children in Pre-K through third grade (although age range can vary depending on the experience and learning style of the individual student). Using a beautifully designed board game format with game play similar to Candy Land, children learn and practice 300 high-frequency sight words, broken out into 3 learning levels, while competing to get their Kangaroo to the delicious pizza at the end of the board. During each turn, children choose a card that is packed with elements of cutting edge reading science. First, children sound out the word on the card, which have a visual prompt for words that are irregular (red lettering). Second, children complete one of nine multi-sensory actions shown on their card that have been proven to help support learning and long term reading skills (e.g., sky write, arm tap, letter hop, table tracing, etc). After repeating steps one and two, players use their counting skills to advance the number of spaces shown on their card. Additional educational benefits include: 1. The game was designed for all students, but with the specific learning needs of students with dyslexia. The game using the same principles as cutting edge reading curriculum recommended for these students, such as Orton Gillingham, and can be a great way for them add a fun practice activity to that rigorous program. 2. Kangaroo Cravings incudes all of the early sight words (300, more than any other game) require for early literacy so students can work with this game for several years. 3. The game is very inclusive. The words are organized into 3 levels, making it possible for children of different ages, levels and abilities to play together in the same game. 4. Because of the simple and engaging game play, Kangaroo Cravings put the power of the very best curriculum in the hands of parents, without them having to be experts. 5. The combination of fun and effectiveness helps children significantly accelerate their reading journey. 6. And finally, children have so much fun, they don't even know they are learning. Kangaroo Cravings Expansion Pack: Using the same combination of reading science and fun, the Kangaroo Cravings Expansion Pack add 100 additional cards, all nouns, that can be added to the main game or taken to go for play in the real world! Only approved educational items are reimbursable. Please visit this link for full details.
